I am a 23 year old Bible school student and I love Jesus. My Christian experience is quite unique in that I was born into and raised in the local church. My father and mother are both God-fearing believers and were raised by strict Christian parents. As young people, both of my parents had a heart for the Lord and attended Christian denominations in New York City. My mother's parents touched the local church in New York in the late 50's after brother Witness Lee came to speak there. My father touched the local church in the early 60's after his involvement with a Christian denomination that left him empty and thirsty for reality.
My parents' experience of finding the local church and coming in contact with the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee was a precursor to my receiving salvation in Jesus Christ. Having been born into a family who loved the Lord and cared for His church, I have come to know the Lord and His purpose for my life. My experience in the local church, under the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, has primarily been a matter of receiving feeding, teaching, and healing. As a young person growing up in the local church, I was cared for by all the brothers and sisters in my locality. This care was a shepherding care of nourishing and cherishing which helped me to grow both humanly and spiritually. As I mentioned before, a solid foundation of truth was laid within my being. This truth formed a good deposit, not merely of Bible knowledge, but of life. After passing through a difficult period during my late high school and early college years, I sought to know the God of my parents, not merely objectively, but in a subjective way. My involvement in worldly pleasures helped me to see that all things are vanity and that Christ is the one reality. Thus, having been brought back to the enjoyment of Christ, I began to experience a real healing. Without the Lord's mercy in bringing me into the local church, I doubt that I would still be a Christian pursuing to know the Lord.
